Rolf F. Ulvestad, M.D.

Biography/Personal Interests

Following his residency Dr. Ulvestad was invited to join the staff of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland where he was instrumental in several large research studies of childhood otitis media (ear infections). There he edited a symposium on the effects of chronic ear infections on childhood speech and language development. His interest in otitis media continues with his appointment to the Cleft Palate Clinic at the University of Minnesota and he has authored a text chapter on the relationship of the otolaryngologist to the patient with cleft palate. Dr. Ulvestad's expertise in otitis is matched by an active interest in nasal and sinus disorders as well as their medical and surgical treatment.

Dr. Ulvestad is a 4th generation Minnesotan who when not practicing medicine, would love to be found paddling through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, playing tennis or traveling with his wife Nancy and their daughters.
